Meet the newest member of our RV family!

For now we are calling her our little dingy.  She is a 16 foot, 1975 Layton travel trailer. As you can see she needs a little work but the structure is good and everything but the A/C works. We brought her home on June 24th, and parked her in the site next door. 2 days of mad dash work and she's already looking better.  She got a paint touch up, new door knob and lock, new screens, battery box, A/C cover, propane tanks, rear tire cover and cabinet hardware. Mostly cosmetic but makes quite a difference.  I'll try to attach some photos soon.

The hardest part of our new baby was finding a place to park her.  Apparently they have an issue out here of people renting storage spots and then abandoning thier trailers. We finally found one that would take us, signed the papers and took her to her new temporary home last night. Silly us thought, we can park a 40' fifth wheel in a pull through spot.  How hard can it be to back in a 16' trailer. Well, I'm sure they'll be watching that security camera footage for months.  I'm taking the high road of it only took 90 minutes. Ralph decided it's like childbirth and he needs to forget before we take it out and have to repark it.

For now she's tucked in, we will visit and do some more work on her, like sealing the windows.  Otherwise the Midwest mosquitoes will eat Ralph alive.  At the moment she will stay until her maiden voyage to Chicago in August. Hopefully all goes well and we will continue to do more traveling with our little dinghy.

Vegas!

It's been almost a year since we arrived in Vegas, and we still love it.  We've met some great people, seen amazing things and really enjoyed not freezing in the winter.  We are figuring out though why all the locals leave in the summer.  It's been a balmy 112 for the last 8 days and will continue into the foreseeable future.  When you mention its a bit warm the response tends to be "this is nothing one year we hit 120".  Personally that's a bit much for me.  I managed to burn the tops of my feet standing outside for a mere10 minutes.  So while this year we are stuck do to some medical stuff and a quarterly spot rental I believe next year you'll find us a tad further north outside of the vally.

Some fun news, we have been on the search for a tiny travel trailer that would allow us to explore more easily.  I'm calling it our dinghy, and I think we may have found one.  It's a vintage 1975 16ft terry trailer.  Fingers crossed we are headed to see it today.  If everything works out we may try to sneak in a quick shake down trip before its planned first haul in August.  My goal in Lake Tahoe, Ralph thinks the haul home with it will suffice.

That's right folks we will be on the road again tentatively this August headed back to Chicago for a visit.  We're both super excited to see family and friends, although ralph is still trying to find a way to simply teletransport.  I'm sure you all know he's not a fan of the 2,000 mile drive. Especially since we will be taking Chuleta, the massive 1 ton diesel dually. Happy thoughts though I know he'll have a great time once were there.

Thanks for reading, hopefully we will have some fun updates along the way and we will see most of your in a few months!
